DrBatra’s™ Homeopathy launches New Campaign: #PhirSeBachpan

Chennai, July 2017:DrBatra’s™Homeopathy, India’s leading chain of homeopathy clinics, announced the launch of its new advertising campaign #PhirSeBachpan.  The integrated campaign conceptualized by Water Communications combines a mix of TV, Radio, Digital and Printadvertisementsthat went live on1stJuly 2017. The media planning for this campaign is done by OMDMudramax.

The #PhirSeBachpan TVC begins with a small child looking into the mirror as he plays with his bouncy hair. Apeppy jingle plays in the background. The child thentransforms into an adultversion of himself, who seems evidently disappointed with his scanty hair. He is seen attempting to conceal his bald patch with the jingle endingon a low note. The TVCconcludes with a voice over – ‘Treat your hair loss with Dr. Batra’s™ Homeopathy.’

Sanjeev Dhiman, Chief Marketing Officer, Dr. Batra’s™ Group of Companiessaid, “DrBatra’s has been synonymous with homeopathy and hair care for over 3 decades. Infact, 45% of our business comes from the hair segment. With the Indian hair care market growing at 18% and Indian homeopathy industry growingat30%, we see this as an opportunity for us to further consolidate our position in this segment. While our previous campaigns were predominately focused on print, through this campaign we have shifted our focus to TVC, radio and digital mediums with print being a support medium. Having marked our presence in 130 cities we strongly feel that it’s the right time to expand our reach through the TVC.

Speaking about the campaignMr. Dhiman further added, “Many of us yearn to relive our childhood days for all the good reasons. It is that golden phase when one is blessed with the best of natural wellness, which is lost over the years due to several health, lifestyleand environmental related factors. We believe that the audiences will be charmed by the child’s cuteness and feel sympathetic towards the adult version of him thereby driving a compelling message of not neglecting hair lossbut rather treat the root cause of it with homeopathy.”

VandanaSethhi, CEO and Creative Thinker, Water Communications said, “Thenew campaigncelebratesthejoy of childhood- hairinparticularand wellnessatlarge; offering achancetorestore the same withDrBatra’s™Homeopathy. Childhood! A time we all want to travel back to and hence the campaign message#PhirSeBachpan!

NSAI Welcomes European Patent Office Ruling on Biotechnology Patents

Biotechnology patents do not give claims on new transgenic plant varieties having patented gene

July 7, 2017, Last week the Administrative Council of the European Patent Office (EPO) voted for a change in the regulations of the European Patent Convention (EPC) which states that European patents shall not be granted in respect of plants or animals exclusively obtained by means of an essential biological process[i].

The EPO ruling gives clarity on product and further defines “the new variety” developed through breeding, which is an essential biological process. The decision that it is not a subject matter of patent is a very important milestone in interpretation of IPR laws.

“The NSAI congratulates the European Seed Association for leading this battle on behalf of the plant breeders and advocating for a solution to re-establish the balance between patents and plant breeders’ rights,” said Dr Kalyan Goswami, Executive Director, National Seed Association of India. “This decision allows breeders to continue their regular breeding work, based on crossing and selection without worrying about access to genetic diversity and traits produced both biotechnological and conventional breeding process.

“The European Seed Association (ESA) has been leading the way against an overly restrictive patent regime that denies farmers and breeders any rights or freedom in creating new varieties using natural / biological methods,” said Mr. M Prabhakar Rao, President, National Seed Association of India. As a national level seed association we have always advocated for the rights of farmers and breeders and this regulation validates our stand and proves it is in line with the principles of natural justice.”

The Indian Patents Act, 1970 clearly states that genes used for developing Genetically Modified traits can be patented under Indian law to the extent of identification, isolation, characterization, insertion process, detection of the gene or its components which cause modification of gene expression by genetic engineering. However once the genes are artificially introduced into a plant, the  transformed cell or a tissue or the transgenic plants or its seeds become subject matter of PVPFR Act and are out of purview of Indian Patent Act

About NSAI

NSAI is the apex organization representing the Indian Seed Industry. The vision of NSAI is to create a dynamic, innovative and internationally competitive research based industry producing high performance, high quality seeds and planting materials which benefit farmers and significantly contribute to the sustainable growth of Indian agriculture.
