Chennai, 20 July, 2016: Preethi Kitchen Appliances, an inseparable brand of any Indian kitchen, entered Global Book of World Records, Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records recently for the demonstration of its mixer grinder’s grinding prowess by organising the Longest Mixer Grinder Grinding Marathon-the first brand across the globe to achieve such a feat. Preethi organised an event “The 500 Kilo Promise” wherein two Galaxy Mixer-Grinders were used continuously for 77hrs 50mins to produce 1000kg of batter together, at the Food Consulate Velachery. The ground batter was then distributed to various NGOs in Chennai to fulfil their breakfast needs.

Preethi Kitchen Appliances used its newly launched Galaxy mixer-grinder with Vega W5 Motor to attempt this challenge. The continuous grinding was possible due to the technically upgraded, sturdy and long-lasting Vega W5 Motor. Preethi, thus, set a new benchmark in the industry by converting lab endurance tests to consumer relatable promises. This 500 kilogram grinding challenge was a proof of the mixer-grinder‘s motor ability to grind large quantities of batter. Toyota Kirloskar Motor reaffirmsitscommitment towards a greener tomorrow by launching a month long celebrations marking World Environment Daycelebrated on 5th June 2017. Toyota’s manufacturing plant at Bidadi has organized a variety of activities and workshops aligned with this year’s theme of ‘Live in Harmony with Nature’.

Specially designed to instill environmental consciousness and conservation practices amongst all stakeholders, the occasion will involve various competitions, seminars and awareness drives like ‘Hand Wash Challenge’, Zero CO2 Thinking’, Swachcha TKM, knowledge seminar on ‘Recent Trends in Environment and Conservation’, ‘HasiruSanthe’, an exhibition to promote eco-friendly lifestyle among other activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raju B Ketkale, Senior Vice President – Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “The recent report of World Economic Forum states that the Top 5 business risks are related to environment. This must be the wake-up call for the companies who do not prioritize environment as a board level agenda. WED (World Environment Day) is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment towards conserving our mother earth.

Environment month at TKM is a collaborated effort by our entire supply chain to create big change for the conservation of environment and biodiversity. We must ‘connect with nature’ by involving our children and family in small activities that can inculcate eco-consciousness among them, he added.”

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has always given utmost priority to environment management and is constantly committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at all stages of vehicle life cycle, including development, design, production, logistics and sales as well as in all business areas.As part of the celebrations, Toyota has also urged its employees to take up a challenge to make an Eco-pledge & practice for six months, motivating them to be the fruitful contributors to bring a positive change in the environment.

The month-long celebration will also be highlighted by ‘Plantathon’ – a large-scale & sustainable plantation project which Toyota will undertake in the local community in partnership with Karnataka Pollution Control Board (KSPCB). This initiative will flag off the ‘Toyota Green Wave Project’, calling out to all of TKM employees to promote eco-consciousness. Community awareness campaigns and skit competitions on ‘Save wildlife’ theme will be organized at the event, that will see participation from 30 government schools of Ramanagara district in Karnataka, where Toyota’s Bidadi plant is located.

A social media contest is conducted by Toyota’s regional headquarter in Thailand, for all Toyota employees to post a picture and share their thoughts and ideas on ‘Biodiversity Conservation’.

Furthermore, unique initiatives to raise awareness were organized at the supplier base, dealership outlets as well as the logistics departments, thereby involving the entire value chain and inspiring all the company’s stakeholders to be agents of change. Activities will include eco-photography competitions, sapling distribution and afforestation activities, clean up drives in biodiversity reserve and wildlife sanctuaries with the theme: “Bring back Birds’, include Eco Drive training to drivers, drawing and quiz competitions will be organized as part of the Environment month celebrations.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has undertaken several unique environment friendly initiatives to preserve the Mother Nature. Last year the company organized a reforestation drive at the Bannerghatta National Park. They had also initiated a large scale afforestation drive in the year 2009 by planting 36000 saplings in a single day involving all its stakeholders to develop a greenbelt within its boundaries and presently houses a native forest with 2,65,000 saplings. The plant at Bidadi has been designed in line with the Eco factory concept at Toyota.

Many eco-initiatives is being implemented in the manufacturing operations like water based painting to reduce VOC emissions, low CO2 footprint technologies like servo machines, vermi-composting for waste minimization, biogas plant to reduce LPG usage and rain water harvesting to reduce fresh water consumption.  The water recycling & rainwater harvesting efforts at TKM manufacturing unit ensure least dependence on Freshwater/River water ensuring sustainable community.

The rain water harvesting structure with a storage capacity of 25000 m3 was constructed, which has helped in saving consumption of 60000 m3 of freshwater last year.  Moreover, through consistent efforts TKM has achieved a reduction of 8000 tons of CO2 compared to last year.

 Somany Ceramics Limited, the leading manufacturer of wall and floor tiles, sanitaryware and bath fittings in India, posted a stout earnings for the quarter that ended on March 31, 2017. 

Profit Before Tax(PBT) rose by 15.2% toINR 43 crores during the quarter as compared to INR 38 crores incorresponding period of last fiscal, while Profit After Tax (PAT) stood at INR 25crores during the quarter after providing for exceptional item of about Rs. 4 crores. 

Commenting on the performance of Q4, Mr. Abhishek Somany, Managing Director, Somany Ceramics Ltd., said, “This year was a year of strategic accomplishment for Somany Ceramics. Our continued efforts in investing in brand and marketing initiatives besides focusing on improving product mix has led to a good performance this quarter and helped us achieve above average industry performance this fiscal year.The categorical network expansion undertaken by us also played anintegral part in the growth strategy that we had charted for Somany Ceramics.”

He further added, “We have recently tripled our sanitaryware production capacity from 3.03 lakh units to 11.50 units per annum and within a year we want to establish our bathroom fittings production plant in India. A state-of-the-art Design showroom in Chennai, on the 26th of May 2017  . While we already had a small Design Centre along with a regional office in Chennai since the last few years, the immense potential of the city and our growing business here has instigated us to move to a bigger area (approx. 5700 sq.ft.) to showcase all our interior solutions in LIVE applications under one roof for our esteemed customers and business partners, like you.

Chennai, 14 May, 2017: Nothing can make a mother happy except seeing her childrenhappy. A mother’s love for her children is like nothing else in the world. Yes, we could even phrase more such words on mother’s love towards her child. Mother did and will do so much for us, now it’s our turn to give her back.

Launched at the beginning of May, the contest “Date with Mom” by Preethi Kitchen Appliances invited the participants to describe how they wanted to surprise their mother on this special occasion and Preethi made it happen for them. The social media campaign witnessed huge number of wishes from sons and daughters nationwide, of which one lucky winner got the opportunity to fulfill the wish of her mother.  On the same occasion, a team from Preethi in association with Raindrops Foundation visited the residents of ‘Anandam Old Age Home’ to thrill and excite the Mothers of Unknown with new experience.

The lucky winner Mritsaa Olive was chosen to fulfill her dream date with Mom. Her wish was simple, an intimate dinner with her family at Barbeque Nation. So, Preethi decided to make this date a little more special by adding a couple of surprises. They were surprised with an Audi A6 ride to a dinner at Madras Pavilion, ITC Grand Chola. The family was awed by Preethi’s luxurious surprise and enjoyed the same fully. The dinner ended with a small cake cutting ceremony and an extensive photography session trying to capture every part of the luxurious setting.

On the same occasion, a team from Preethi in association with Raindrops Foundation visited the residents of Anandam Old Age Home to thrill and excite the Mothers of Unknown with new experience. The grandpas and grannies, among whom many are big time movie buffs, were taken to the movie Bahubali 2. The movie was followed by celebrations at the old age home with a cake cutting ceremony for a resident whose birthday happened to be on the same day. The granny could not contain her happiness as she confessed that it was the first time she had ever cut a cake.
