Movie Review-;

Nadigaiyar Thilagam the biopic of the legendary actress Savitri is directed by Nag Ashwin. Keerthy Suresh plays the lead role Savitri and alongside, her Samantha Akkineni, Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda, Naga Chaitanya, Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Shalini Pandey, Bhanu Priya, Rajendra Prasad, Tanikella Bharani, Tulasi Shivamani, Malavika Nair and many others are in the huge line-up of star-cast. Vyjayanthi Movies produces the film that has Mickey J Meyer scoring the music for the frames cranked by cinematographer Dani Sanchez-Lopez with edits by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao.

The depiction of the legendary actress Savithri starts with the journey of a journalist played by Samantha to find the darker life and darker sides of the actress. Samantha along with another journalist played by Vijay Devarkonda visit Savithri at the hospital when she fell into the coma. Their encounter with Savithri’s husband Gemini Ganeshan played by Dulquer Salman creates curiosity in the journalists and Samantha’s character Madhuravani. She starts her work more intensively and from that urge to discover the not known side of the legendary actress Nadigaiyar Thilagam begins.

Nag Ashwin has brought the Nadigaiyar Thilagam before our eyes. His point of view is altogether unique. The casting of the movie completes this biopic as an awesome experience and it is obvious that every character in the movie is minutely taken care of by the director. Nadigaiyar Thilagam has turned out to be one of the best and ideal biopic, among a ton of biopics made up until now. Nadigaiyar Thilagam projects Savitri’s life from her adolescence to death and on account of Nag Ashwin for picking this film and the stars.

With Nadigaiyar Thilagam, Keerthy Suresh who essayed the tutor role has demonstrated that she could perform character with so much of life. Keerthy as Nadigaiyar Thilagam Savithri gave life to the yesteryear actress and her memories. She under the Nag Ashwin’s careful guidance has delivered her part with complete justice and influ enced the audience feel like there is no one else to play the role. Dulquer has played his part amazingly sketching the actor Gemini Ganeshan. Kudos to Samantha for taking up characters like Madhuravani and being a part of good projects. Though she didn’t have too much to perform in the movie, her scenes towards the end of the movie will definitely make her fans and the movie buffs give a standing ovation. She has swung out to an expert in delivering emotional scenes.

The technical aspect of the film is highly appreciable. The cautious rendering of recreating the golden era of cinema brings life to the movie. The art department and their creative brilliance are evident throughout in the Nadigaiyar Thilagam. Dani Sanchez-Lopez beautifully wielded the camera and captured the frames taking the audience for an extraordinary visual experience through the period of the 50’s and 80’s with the amazing composition of shots. The costume and makeup department of the film really deserves appreciation for keeping the movie more appealing and feel like everything’s for real. Micky J Meyer’s music is appropriate and sticks well with the film. Keerthy Suresh brings life to Savithri. Nadigaiyar Thilagam, a well-executed biopic and a tribute by Nag Ashwin, worth every penny.
