“2ND EDITION OF TAMILNADU TRAVEL MART AND MEDICAL VALUE TRAVEL MART 2019” TO KICK START IN CHENNAI 

Chennai, September 13, 2019: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with Tamil Nadu Travel Mart Society will organise the second edition of CII Tamil Nadu Travel Mart and Medical Value Travel Mart 2019 exhib ition in Chennai from 19-22 September 2019 at Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai.  Tamil Nadu Travel Mart is su pported by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and Department of Tourism, Government of Tamil Na du. The exhibitions will showcase the potential of the Tamil Nadu Tourism and make Tamil Nadu as a preferred medical tourism destination to the world.

Tamil Nadu Travel Mart, a global event for the stakeholders from the Tourism fraternity, the 3-day exhibition will have more than 300 exhibitors showcasing the Tourism business opportunities in the state of Tamil Nadu. 1000 International and domestic buyers are expected to participate in the expo. The Visitors will be offered specially arranged tours to experience the culture and culinary styles of the Chera, Chola, Pandya and Pallava kingdom of Tamil Nadu. A Live demo of weaving, Sculpting, Wood carving, Tanjore Painting, Veena Manufacturing, Pottery, traditional farming, bullock cart riding and fishing will be displayed at the Expo.

Tamil Nadu Medical Value Travel Mart 2019 is organised in association with the Health Department, Govern ment of Tamil Nadu. The event will reiterate the Importance of Tamil Nadu in the medical value travel sector. Hospitals, Super Speciality centres, Health and wellness centres, Insurance Companies, Medical tourism pro m oter, Central and state health departments will showcase the world-class medical infrastructure, cutting edge technology available in the state of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu is the country’s top destination for domestic tourists for the third consecutive year. More than 344 million tourists from within the country visited the state in 2016. The foreign tourist arrivals in the state last year were about 4.72 million. The highest in the entire country said Mr S Chandramohan, Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu. Being the home to many natural resources, Tamil Nadu has evolved and continued to be a land of lively culture and literature makes Tamil Nadu a destination of choice among the travel fraternity across the globe.

Speaking about Tamil Nadu Medical Value Travel Mart, Dr S Chandrakumar, Convenor, CII Tamil Nadu Medical Taskforce, Said “Tamil Nadu has been one of the favoured destinations in Medical tourism in India for the last de cade due to the focus on providing great healthcare solutions in the most efficient way. According to a recent study by Grant Thornton, more than 45% of patients who choose India as their healthcare destination, have ch osen Tamil Nadu as their state of Choice and Tamil Nadu attracts about 40-50% of medical tourist arrivals in the country followed by Maharashtra and Delhi added Dr Chandrakumar

 Speaking about Tamil Nadu Travel Mart 2019, Mr Natarjan T, Founder President, Tamil Nadu Travel Mart Socie ty, Said “Tamil Nadu Travel mart has become a game-changer for business and tourism sectors in India and par ticularly in the state of Tamil Nadu. This year expo has witnessed an increase in participation from an array of hospitality players, Homestays and Tour Operators. Tamil Nadu Travel Mart will create more awareness among travel fraternity of the unseen destinations and better infrastructure available in the state which will sustain inflow of Tourist to the state, added Mr Natarjan.

Mr Ligi George, Convenor, CII Tamil Nadu Tourism Panel gave the concluding remarks
