Story-:
Devayani, a Sri Lankan Tamil, has come t o India as a refugee after losing her thre ee-year-old child and family in the war t here and is working in an old age home i n Chennai. On the other hand, a couple, Vijith and Kanmani, who work in an IT c ompany, come to the home for their chi ild’s birthday. They are looking for the ri ght person to take care of their child, an d they see Devayani and take her home to work to look after their child.
The Vijith couple, who are trying to som ehow settle down in America, receive an invitation to go to America. In the mean time, the child, who grows up in Devaya ni’s affection, wants to be with her. Dev ayani is tormented by the thought of bei ng separated from the child. In this situa tion, the Vijith couple throw a party for their friends before going to America. S uddenly, the child goes missing at the pa rty. They immediately file a complaint w ith the police. The police question many people and also investigate Devayani.W ho actully kidnapped the child? Why did they kidnap the child? Did the Vijith co uple go to America? How did Devaya ni recover from this problem? This is the re st of the story of the film.

In this era, most people want to live a li fe of money, cars, bungalows, and luxur y. They run after money without even ha ving time to take care of their children. Due to this, they want to enroll their ch ildren in a residential school. When the child grows up, they want to enroll their parents in an old age home. Taking this as the main theme, director Siva Arumu ugam has given this film Nizhalkudai, wh ich is like a film that is only seen in the s un, mixed with emotion through Devaya ni. Although the story selection is corre ct, the screenplay lacks interest, so it wa s not very enjoyable. However, he has gi ven a story suitable for this time at the r ight time, and the director can be praise ed for that.
Devayani, who has made a comeback on the silver screen after many years, has p layed a role that highlights her characte r and has done a great job. Her Sri Lanka n Tamil accent is enjoyable. In addition,h er small facial flaws are noticeable. Wit h this, Tamil cinema has got a new moth er.
Both Vijith and Kanmani have portrayed the current generation couple working i n an IT company on screen. The scenes o f them competing to take care of the chil d and ordering food every day are the re ality of today. In addition, foreign love is becoming the dream of most IT workers in Chennai. They have also portrayed th at well.
Both Ahana and Niharika, who played c hild stars, have given beautiful performa nces. The chemistry of the children with Devyani is perfect. Similarly, the charact ers of Ilavarasu, who plays the police ins pector, Raj Kapoor, and Vadivukkarasi, who play the office MD, are enjoyable.T he scenes in Gurudev’s cinematography are brilliant. Naren Balakumar’s music h as added strength to the film. He has als o done a great job with the background music.
The director has sown awareness about the increasing number of old age homes in recent times through this story. Howe ver, if the screenplay had been a strong side to that affection, the emotion wou ld have connected even more. The film’s weakness is that the scenes are stateme nt-making, like a serial.
