World Emergency Medicine Day: Iswary a Hospital Holds Mock Drill on External Disaster and Emergency Management
Chennai, May 27th, 2025: In commemor ation of World Emergency Medicine Da y, Iswarya Hospital, a super speciality ho spital at OMR, Chennai, conducted a co mprehensive mock drill today to simulat e real-time emergency response protoc ols and reinforce preparedness for casu alty incidents and critical emergencies in the city. The purpose of this exercise was to assess the hospital’s readiness, coordination of response, efficiency in triage, and critical care capabilities duri ng a mass casualty incident. The mock drill happened from 12 to 3 pm today, around 10 victims were brought to the hospital in ambulances for the mock drill stimulation.
The drill brought together around 40 ho spital staff which included a multidiscip linary team of doctors, nurses, paramed ics, and support staff, demonstrating co ordinated actions in response to a hypo thetical emergency scenario. The simula tion included triage, patient stabilisa tio n, trauma care, evidence-based practice, code blue system, disaster managemen ent, ventilator facilities and emergency evacuation, aiming to evaluate response times, resource mobilisation, and interd epartmental coordination.
