Movie Review -:

A word wins, a word kills. Vasudevan, w ho starts working at the age of seventee n, makes his younger brother and sister study and become men. The younger sis ter, who has enjoyed the fruits of his lab or, mocks his brother by saying, ‘You ca n’t buy your own house.’ That one word turns Vasudevan’s entire life upside dow n. Every time he takes a step towards his dream of owning his own house, the ‘fut ure of the children’ comes before his eye s. Sarathkumar has done a wonderful jo b in the role of Vasudevan, a middle-cla ss father who compromises his only dre am for the sake of his children. If Vasud evan is the hero of the film, then Prabhu is the hero of the second half. Prabhu be ecomes the hero when he decides to thi nk about what will give him peace of mi nd, not just for the family. Even though t hey both carry the same dream togethe r, the difficult phase of the generation ga p in the father-son relationship cannot b e avoided. A person from a generation t hat lives only with the future of the fami ly in mind will definitely have difficulty u nderstanding a generation that prioritiz es personal preferences. The former ma y misunderstand the latter as selfish.

Although Prabhu is also the most import ant person in the family, he is unwilling to sacrifice himself for it. Siddharth exce ls in the role of Prabhu in the second hai f of the film.

In the first half of the film, Siddharth, wh o comes as a schoolboy, has the nerve to make himself appear young on screen. B ut he is unable to portray a middle-class childhood. In the second half, Siddharth turns into Prabhu when he grows a mou stache and a short beard. The makeup ar tists have made a very special contribut ion to the film. Prabhu’s character appe ars in the film from the age of seventeen to the age of forty, and Vasudevan’s char acter from middle age to graying. These changes have been beautifully brought t o the screen. The story mostly takes pla ce inside a house. They have faced that challenge with elegance and done a grea t job in the cinematography. Amrit Ram nath’s background music reflects the mo od of the characters.

Is buying a house that important? Is it w orth it? A question may arise when appr oaching the film superficially. The direct tor has clarified what a house really is in Karthi’s voice-over at the end of the fil m. Moreover, just as all modern art form s present that nothing is greater than in dividual freedom, Prabhu’s character als o abandons the plan to buy a house and goes towards whatever gives him peace and freedom. They have emphasized tha t one should not mortgage the inner self for external comfort. Since the film ends there, the feel-good nature of the entire film and the extended final scenes towa rds a happy ending make the film seem a bit long. A very simple story that can be predicted. But director Sri Ganesh has b rought the story to life wonderfully with out any commercial compromises with h is writing. Meetha Raghunath, who play s Prabhu’s sister Aarti, and Chaitra J. Ac har, who can act wonderfully (in the Kan nada film ‘Toby’) as Prabhu’s school frie nd, have performed very well. The reaso n for this is Sri Ganesh’s writing! There is also humor here and there. Although the tone in the film is that dreaming and carrying it on one’s shoulders is a man’s job, Sri Ganesh has made it his own and emphasized how the women in the fami ly support him. Even though Devayani, who plays Vasudevan’s wife Shanthi, do es not get a meaningful role, she draws attention with a wonderful dialogue th at points out what her husband is really angry about. The biggest strength of the film is the dialogues. 3 BHK – A house is made beautiful not by its appearance, s paciousness, light, or ventilation, but by the people in it.
