Movie Review-:

Raghava’s love for Janani starts as a flin g but slowly blossoms into love, an old st ory that is relevant to the 1990s and 20 00s but for unknown reasons expands t o 2018. Ranjana struggles; she is afraid of her overly insecure mother Anasuya (Raasi). Winning Ranjana’s heart means understanding her mother first. This is n o easy feat, as Anasuya is a single mothe r and generally hates men, and she has n o problem lifting her sandals to attack m en who dare to look at her daughter.

A humble mother who has experienced past trauma caused by love and marriag ages, a daughter struggling to reveal the threa eads of independence, and a man trying to win the heart of her mother-in-law – t hese are a treasure trove of layer s to explore. However, Usure chooses to remai in primitive in its storytelling. It is fair if love has a character in the film and it is r evealed in a way that tugs at your hearts trings, but it is also fundamental there.

Deejay makes an interesting introductio n as Raghava, though his character is po rtrayed in a convincing manner. At one p oint, we don’t know if Raghava’s male eg o and savior complex are disguised as lo ve for Ranjana. Ranjana’s every gesture and movement is accompanied by insta ntly forgettable lyrics. Her character se ems so innocent, written in a dangerous sly “beautiful” way. Anasuya is a note of anguish as a mother who is only motivat ed by rage and anger.

This is where usur ea completely loses its way in terms of writing. Despite these setbacks, you are guided by the strong comedic songs of A ditya Kathir and Thangadurai, which gi ve some hope to the rest of the story. Bu t the makers have left no room for innov ation there either, and Usure falls flat se veral times, and it never once tries to wo rk on the lines of potential it had within itself – as if it were making full use of th e rich cultural landscape of Chittoor, wh ere its residents speak broken Telugu an d Tamil and have a distinct identity with their religious ceremonies.

It is only in it s final moments, after som e unique punc hes to the gut, that Usure finally breathe es. But with the emotion al dissonance t hat marks the rest of the running time, these scenes, along with t he heavy dose of melodrama, are compl etely out of kee ping with the story. You never connect: with the romance or the epic it tries to demonstrate or the yearn ing of its charac ters. Instead, what you crave is a truly w ell-written romance t hat makes you gas p for air and life, and doesn’t leave you emotionally flat.
