Back in 1993 when I wanted to study medicine, the fees was 25000/- for 5 years, at that time I finished my education by taking an education loan from Canara Bank in Murugankurichi, Palayankottai. Back then 10/- was required to start an account, and I didn’t even have that. The bank manager put in 10/- to open an account for me. I didn’t even know his name back then and till date I am not aware of it. I have completed my medical successfully and joined as a Duty Doctor at a hospital and hence I managed to pay back the entire loan with interest, but what I can never repay is that 10/-.”
