COAST GUARD CONDUCTS MARITIME POLLUTION RESPONSE SEMINAR AT CHENNAI

Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters No.5 (North Tamil Nadu) today conducted Pollution Response Seminar and Workshop involving officials from State Government, State Disaster Management Authority, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, Chennai Port, Kamarajar Port, Adani Port Kattuppali, various Oil Handling Agencies, Collector Office, Chennai and other stakeholders at Chennai. The aim of the seminar was to review the preparedness of stakeholders to contain any incidence of Oil Spill at sea and associated shore-line cleanup. Various Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contingency plans were discussed during the seminar to strengthen overall response mechanism for combating oil pollution at sea.
