SIMS Hospital Launches ‘Care Bears’ – A Free Paediatric Health Check-up Progra m for Children in Government Palvadi a nd Kindergartens Across Chennai

· Aims to reach 10,000 children below th e age of 5 by the end of the year.

On the occasion of World Health Day, a nd in line with this year’s theme “Health y Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” SIMS Ho spital, Vadapalani, a leading centre for a dvanced healthcare services, launched ‘Care Bears – Nurturing the Future’, a cit ywide free paediatric health check-up p rogram. This initiative is aimed at benefi ting children under the age of five study ing in Government Palvadis and Kinder garten schools across Chennai.

The launch event was graced by Dr. Kala nidhi Veerasamy, Honourable Member o f Parliament, who presided as the Chief Guest and officially inaugurated the pro gram.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Raju Sivasam y, Vice President, SIMS Hospital, said:

‘Care Bears’ is an initiative spearheaded by the Paediatrics Department at SIMS Hospital in collaboration with Governm ent Palvadis and Kindergarten schools a cross Chennai. The program is designed to offer comprehensive paediatric care t hat includes regular screening, early dia gnosis, nutritional guidance, and parent education.

As part of this outreach, a dedicated tea m of paediatricians and healthcare prof essionals from SIMS Hospital will condu ct monthly visits to participating school s. Children aged 0–5 years will be screen ed for growth parameters including heig ht, weight, developmental milestones, a nd cognitive and emotional wellbeing. A dditional assessments will include check ks for chest deformities, dental hygiene, s ensory health such as vision and heari ng, and overall physical wellness.

Beyond health assessments, Care Bears will also feature interactive awareness s essions for parents, focusing on the imp ortance of early intervention and how t o nurture a healthy child. These sessions aim to equip parents with the knowledg ge and confidence to make informed dec isions about their child’s health journey.
