Movie Review -:
For Arun Vijay, roles like this are a piece of cake; he absolutely rocks the action sequences. Playing two characters – a hitman on one hand and a lover on the other – Arun Vijay, despite the lack of difference in their looks, has nailed the attitude for both roles. The heroine, Siddhi, is the reason for Arun Vijay’s situation. It is her ideas that lead him to this point.

She pushes him to various extremes for money, and the way she uses love as a weapon is a well-written character, but somehow, she doesn’t quite fit into this sadistic, villainous role.

The first half of the film moves a bit slowly. After Arun Vijay and Siddhi meet, the pace picks up. The plot is well-set with the millionaire Arun Vijay, Upendra’s death, the dons chasing Upendra, and now targeting the current Arun Vijay, but there is a lack of impactful scenes. The screenplay relies solely on fight sequences. Even though major twists are revealed, the lack of impactful scenes is the film’s weakness. However, the last 30 minutes are enjoyable, especially the climax.

Beyond Arun Vijay, the villain’s 9 could have been stronger. The typical mafia dons wearing suits and coming to kill is just a rehashing of old masala tropes. John Vijay has performed well in his usual irritating character. Technically, the cinematography is superb, and Sam C.S.’s background music is fantastic, significantly elevating the film’s visuals.

Arun Vijay Action sequences, Background music. Climax twist. Numerous logic mistakes. They keep fighting despite being hit by so many bullets. Lack of impactful scenes. The villain’s character. In total, if the intensity of the last half hour of Retta Thala had been present throughout the film, Arun Vijay would have made a much bigger impact with this one too
