Story-:

Four mysterious murders take place in a row in the Neyveli NLC area. There is a strange similarity in these murders. All the victims are men, their throats slit and their heads beaten, and in some way, those who are on the margins of society are over forty years old. Surya (Anand Nag), an honest police officer who has returned from suspension, is assigned to investigate the case. The killer leaves no trace, but a certain ‘code’ is found there. In this case, the father of his girlfriend and YouTuber Vinisha (Janani Gunaseelan), a former police officer, i.e. Surya’s future father-in-law, dies unexpectedly. Although everyone thinks it is an accidental death, Surya has doubts about it. He feels that there is some connection between that death and the previous murders.

In this case, during the investigation at the police station, the prostitute involved in the case is killed. Due to this, Surya is forced to conclude the case quickly due to the pressure from his superiors. To distract his girlfriend and YouTuber Vinisha (Janani Gunaseelan) from the grief of her father’s death, Suriya gives her some old documents to examine. Vinisha uses her digital knowledge to find a connection between some photos shared on social media and these deaths. To share this with Suriya, an intensive investigation yields several startling pieces of information. Suriya discovers the key figures behind these murders. However, this ends up putting Vinisha’s life in danger. How did Suriya uncover the mystery, what was the killers’ motive? Was Vinisha able to save her? Why was Vinisha’s father killed? How does Suriya defeat the criminals with his intelligence and physical strength? The rest of the film focuses on the impact of an important issue that society ignores, happening within a family.

Movie Review -:

Anand Nag is an important film that establishes himself in a full-length action-investigative thriller. Anand Nag fits perfectly as a police officer named ‘Surya’ and conveys the body language, intelligence and authority of a police officer very naturally and gives a calm performance without unnecessary action lines. Anand Nag has a calm and intelligent approach in the scenes where he searches for the reasons for the mysterious murders and examines the clues, especially in the climax scene, with his confrontation with the villains being aggressive. Anand Nag has beautifully revealed his emotional side in the scenes where he melts at the death of his future father-in-law and the grief of his girlfriend Vinisha (Janani). The way he handles his girlfriend’s grief to divert her grief shows the stance of a mature lover.

Janani Gunaseelan has acted as Vinisha, a smart modern woman who changes the course of the story by showing her excitement and enthusiasm as a YouTuber in the opening scenes, and has acted very naturally in the first film without any tension. When her father mysteriously dies in the film, Janani’s sadness and crying are sympathetic. In the second half of the film, in the scenes where Suriya examines the data of old cases, Janani’s mature performance as a ‘detective’ woman, and as she moves towards the climax of the film, where she is kidnapped by villains and in life-threatening situations, Janani’s facial expressions accurately reflect that tension.

Although the scenes in which Roshini appears are shown quietly at first, her character later reveals the most important emotional and social angle of the film. As a young woman who is a victim of sexual assault, she has handled the anguish of not being able to tell the injustice done by her family members, rather than outsiders, and the aggressive impact that it causes very well.

The experienced performances of Boyce Rajan, Birla Bose, and Gauri Shankar help to enhance the film’s excitement.

The biggest strength of the film is Karthik Era’s background music. He has maintained the ‘suspense’ and ‘tension’ required for a crime thriller film throughout the film through his music. Especially in the investigation scenes and the climax confrontation scenes, his music has increased the intensity of the scenes. The fact that the songs did not hinder the flow of the story is an additional special.

Yashwanth Balaji’s cinematography has shown the landscape of Neyveli in a very different way. Especially in the night scenes, he has created a mysterious atmosphere and captured the thriller feeling neatly, bringing the excitement of an investigation film to the screen.

Sathyamoorthy R’s editing, perfect for a thriller film, has avoided unnecessary scenes and ensured that the screenplay moves smoothly. The way the scenes change during the investigation, especially, adds to the pace of the story.

Art direction Surya’s role is important in creating the necessary atmosphere for the story.

Stunt master Mano has realistically and aggressively presented the climax fight scenes of the film without exaggerating them.

Based on true incidents, this “Arivan” honestly talks about the mysterious murders taking place in the backdrop of Neyveli and the social misery behind them. The thrilling investigation and innovative screenplay make the film a quality crime thriller. The screenplay, which moves normally for the first 20 minutes of the film, picks up speed after the first murder. The director’s twists in the intermission and climax scenes are sure to captivate the audience. He has succeeded in trying to provide a thrilling thriller experience with quality technical artists on a low budget. Director S. Arun Prasad has boldly and consciously combined a thrilling crime thriller with a social message, focusing on an important issue that many in society hesitate to talk about, namely sexual violence in the family. It is noteworthy that in this film, director S. Arun Prasad has emphasized that the 181 toll-free telephone service was created to find solutions to sexual harassment, sexual intimidation and other family problems for women of all walks of life, including girls, young women, and old women, and that it provides all psychological, legal, and police assistance to make decisions and ensures rehabilitation.

Overall, Arivaan, produced by Durai Mahadevan on behalf of MT Films, is a crime investigation thriller that tells the story of the social disorder that is taking place behind mysterious murders to create awareness.
