Story-:

Naren, a village elder, saves the cows that are destined for the cattle shed and takes care of them in his own cowshed. His son, Vimal, is also fond of cows like his father. Vimal, who takes care of the physically handicapped calf that was sent to the cattle shed, does not leave it in the cowshed but keeps it in his home, trains it and prepares it as a bull for the Manjuruttu competition, and for many years, it has been proudly known as the bull that no one can tame.
Meanwhile, Vimal’s bull is undergoing treatment in the hospital, and Vimal is also granted bail in a murder case. At that time, a gang tries to kill him inside the court premises. On the other hand, a person who worked in Vimal’s house plans to kill him. Vimal, who has forgotten his happy life and is living a sad life due to having developed enmity with many people, is given back the lost happiness by the love of heroine Sanashka Sri.

Vimal, who decides to move on to the next phase of his life through the joy of love and the hope of his bull, who is preparing to enter the field of Manjuvirattu again, is given a shock by his girlfriend Sanashka Sri. What is it? Will Vimal recover from that shock and the hostility towards him? Will his bull succeed in the field of Manjuvirattu again?, is what ‘Vadam’ is about in a commercial sense.

Movie Review-:

Many Tamil films have been made with Jallikattu competitions as their backdrop. But for the first time, this film has been made with the Vadamadu Manjuvirattu competition as its backdrop. But although the Manjuvirattu competition is not discussed in detail in the film, director Kendran.V has emphatically recorded the pride and hostility of the people who depend on it.

Vimal, who plays the role of Vetrivel, who is affectionate towards cows and prepares the bulls and cows for the Manjuvirattu competition, has acted without flinching as usual. Usually, heroes act as bull tamers and show off their mass. But Vimal has shown his mettle by acting as the owner of an untamed bull.

Sanashka Sri, who plays the heroine, walks around with a beauty that catches the eye the moment she sees it. The appearance she takes on is intimidating, suggesting that beauty can be dangerous. However, the fact that the threat is limited to that one scene and that there are not many scenes for him is a great disappointment for the audience.

Natty Natraj, who considers the bullfighting and the Manjuvirattu competition to be honorable and proud, has played a role that reflects the mindset of people who live in any state of mind, only winning is life, he does not want any competitors.
Munishkanth, who has appeared as a comedy actor, has played a very important role in this one, although he has played some character roles in many films and attracted attention. His natural and excellent performance has added great strength not only to his character, but also to the screenplay. Munishkanth is sure to get the Best Character Actor award for this film.

If Naren, who plays Vimal’s father, had kept a slightly bigger mustache, he would have acted a little too much, showing it in his performance. In this film too, he has kept a slightly bigger mustache, and Manushan has acted and pushed him. Indumathi, who plays Vimal’s mother, Deepa Shankar, who plays the aunt, Bala Saravanan, who plays the relative, Madhusudhanan Rao, and all the actors and actresses who play other roles have beautifully portrayed the people of the southern district in their performances.

Cinematographer Prasanna S. Kumar has shot the Manjuvirattu competition arena and the competition realistically. The locations shown are those that have been seen many times in many films, so there is no uniqueness in the cinematography. At the same time, he has portrayed the hero and heroine beautifully and brightly, and has shown the expenses incurred for the film on the screen through his camera.
Although it has the look of his old songs, T. Imman, who has the power to add strength to the film by giving songs that make you listen to them over and over again, has failed to do such a trick in this film. The background music is poor.

Although the story is centered on the Manjuvirattu competition, the fact that the pride and enmity of the people of the southern districts are present in it reminds us of many films that have already been released, so Sabu Joseph.V.J. has told the story from a new perspective through his editing and has moved the film forward with many twists and turns.

Written and directed by Kendran.V, the screenplay is based on the Vadamadu Manjuvirattu competition, which is not much talked about in Tamil cinema. It is full of commercial aspects. However, he does not talk about the rules of the Manjuvirattu competition in detail. Since there is no time for that, he has tried to tell the drama of enmity around the hero in an interesting way and has succeeded in doing so.
When comparing this film with director Kendran.V.’s previous films, it is clear that he has progressed many steps as a director, but without using any new tactics in the screenplay, he has reminded us of a Tamil film that he has already seen. However, director Kendran.V has succeeded in delivering what he set out to do in an entertaining film that can be watched by all audiences. Overall, ‘Vadam’ will be a failure for Vimal.
