Story -:
The story opens with the disappearance of a young girl from a large apartment complex in Chennai. The ensuing friction between Police Inspector Bharath—who is investigating the case—and Assistant Commissioner Bhavani Sri—who joins the inquiry later—adds an intriguing dynamic to the narrative. As the investigation intensifies, the case takes a shocking turn when the missing girl is found murdered, her body stuffed inside a box. The subsequent murder of another woman within the very same apartment complex further complicates the investigation.

While suspicion points toward lawyer Prakash Raj and his junior associate, David—and with David widely presumed to be the culprit due to past controversies—Bharath alone chooses to pursue the investigation from a different perspective. Driven by these conflicts, the differing mindsets of the two officers striving to uncover the truth, and the central question of “Who is the real killer?”, the screenplay unfolds at a gripping pace.

Movie Review-:
Young police officer Kalidas (Bharath) is a sharp investigator known for accurately anticipating criminal moves and apprehending offenders. When the child of a young couple residing in an apartment complex suddenly goes missing within the premises, the responsibility of locating the child falls to Kalidas. Despite an exhaustive and meticulous search yielding no leads, his superior officer intensifies the investigation efforts.

The police soon cast their suspicion upon a junior lawyer (Ajay Karthik). Just as they are poised to arrest him, a senior lawyer (Prakash Raj) intervenes and takes the junior lawyer away from police custody.Did they succeed in finding the missing child? Who was the person responsible for the abduction? The film’s climax provides unexpected answers to these questions. Far from being a run of the mill movie, *Kalidas* distinguishes itself through a screenplay crafted in the style of a unique crime thriller, giving the film a fresh and distinct identity.

When the young couple’s child who lives in the same apartment complex becomes fascinated by a puppy owned by the junior lawyer (another resident) and follows it, the audience is gripped by the apprehension that something terrible is about to befall the child. While the narrative initially appears to follow this predictable path, the subsequent chain of events and shifting scenes ignite a palpable sense of suspense and excitement. Just when the audience thinks they have correctly identified the villain, the narrative pivots to a completely different angle; this unexpected twist delivers a genuine shock.

Bharath delivers a compelling performance as the police officer. Eschewing typical cinematic theatrics, he conducts himself with the composure of a real-life police officercalmly interrogating witnesses and pursuing leads. Furthermore, the dignity with which he performs his duties even while enduring disrespectful behavior from his superior officer, played by Bhavani Sre adds significant gravitas to his character. Newcomer Ajay Karthik plays a pivotal negative role as a junior lawyer.

Fully immersing himself in the character, Ajay executes actions that cast a suspicious light upon him, thereby creating a palpable tension leaving the audience constantly wondering when he will finally be caught red-handed by the police. Bhavani Sre, despite her youthful demeanor, delivers a performance with a subtle yet potent touch of villainy. After a long hiatus, Sangeetha (of *Poove Unakkaga* fame) returns in this film to portray a distinctly different kind of character. Prakash Raj, Kishore, Ananth Nag, and Aparnathi also shine brightly in their respective roles. Produced under the banner of Sky Pictures, the film is bankrolled by Dr. N. Yogeswaran and Five Star Senthil.

Sam C.S.’s background score effectively heightens the pace and intensity of the visuals. Although the camera work is confined primarily within the premises of an apartment complex, Cinematographer Suresh Bala has distinguished himself by filming the scenes in a manner that keeps the narrative engaging and free from monotony. Taking the simple premise of a missing child as his core concept, Director Sri Senthil has woven together a series of unique incidents to craft *Kalidas 2*a thriller reminiscent of the style typically found in Malayalam cinema.

This film serves not only as a cautionary tale but also as an awareness-building tool for couples who, in their pursuit of celebrations and personal pleasures, often neglect to focus their attention on their children.*Kalidas 2* A must-watch film for both children and couples.
