Story-:
RAW agent Vijay Prakash (Karthi) is drawn into a critical mission linked to the past of his father, Sardar Chandrabose (Karthi). ‘Black Dagger’ (S.J. Suryah) plots to seize ‘Doku,’ a biological weapon capable of claiming millions of lives in seconds. *Sardar 2* explores what Sardar did during a mission involving ‘Doku’ years ago and whether the father-son duo manages to avert this looming catastrophe.

Movie Review-:
Karthi carries the film by effectively distinguishing the dual roles of Vijay Prakash and Sardar through his body language and voice modulation; however, the impact these characters created in the first installment is somewhat missing here. Although S.J. Suryah, appearing as ‘Black Dagger,’ is menacing in the opening scenes, the lack of depth in his character’s writing causes his signature over-the-top acting style to become tiresome after a while.
Malavika Mohanan commands attention in both flashback and action sequences, while Ashika Ranganath and Rajisha Vijayan deliver solid performances within their respective roles. The comic sequences featuring Yogi Babu and Nizhalgal Ravi are a mixed bag.
George C. Williams’ cinematography effectively captures the action scenes and the grandeur of the sets, but the VFX fails to match that quality, making several visuals look artificial; specifically, certain AI-generated elements are quite jarring. While Vijay Velukutty’s editing is stylish, the cuts could have been tighter.
Sam C.S.’s background score works well only in select moments. Much like the first film, director P.S. Mithran attempts to weave a social issue into a spy thriller narrative; this time, he tackles the subject of ‘antibiotic resistance.’ The film addresses the adverse effects of the indiscriminate use of antibiotics and the resistance bacteria develop against these drugs.
However, while the information flowed naturally with the narrative in the first half, here it often feels like a lecture and is delivered in a tone that unnecessarily amplifies alarmism. Despite the high stakes—involving a global biological threat, an international conspiracy, and RAW agents—the film fails to generate the requisite thrill or tension on screen.
The second half largely lacks the pace, unexpected twists, and suspenseful curiosity essential to a spy thriller. Since solutions to the protagonists’ predicaments come too easily, one never truly feels they are in genuine danger. Furthermore, the villain’s motives and backstory lack depth.
Although the first half manages to sustain some interest, the film completely loses its way in the second half. It drags on with lengthy flashback sequences, excessive explanations and dialogue regarding ‘Doku,’ and a succession of fight scenes. At least 20 minutes could have easily been trimmed from the nearly three-hour runtime.
