‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ event held without Nayanthara: Why was she absent this time, despite attending events for ‘Toxic’ and ‘Hi Nanna’?
The pre-release event for the film ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ took place in Chennai. Nayanthara, a key figure in the film, was notably absent. Fans have begun questioning why she chose to skip the event for her own movie. ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’: The first ‘Mookuthi Amman’ film, directed by RJ Balaji and starring Nayanthara, was a success. Following its release, many fans eagerly awaited news about a sequel. However, unlike the first film, ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ has been directed by Sundar C.—a filmmaker known for delivering commercially successful, “paisa vasool” (value-for-money) entertainers. Produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under his banner, Vels International, ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ is being presented as a pan-Indian project. As is typical for Sundar C.’s films, Hiphop Tamizha Adhi has composed the music, delivering an impressive soundtrack for this movie as well.
Nayanthara missing: With the film set for a grand Diwali release on November 6th, a lavish pre-release event was held in Chennai. Fans were looking forward to seeing what Nayanthara would wear and what she might say on stage; however, she was nowhere to be seen at the ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ event.
Why did Nayanthara skip the event for a film in which she portrays both a police officer and a goddess? It would have been wonderful had she been there. Generally, Nayanthara limits her involvement to acting in films and typically avoids participating in promotional events; consequently, fans usually do not expect her to appear at such functions. Given this, the fact that there was an expectation for her to attend this time is, in itself, a testament to her significance. ‘Toxic’ and ‘Hi’: Nayanthara spoke beautifully during the promotional events for her last released film, ‘Hi’. No one has forgotten how the lead pair, Kavin and Nayanthara, promoted that movie; listening to Nayanthara speak was truly a delight. Fans expressed that it would be wonderful if she promoted all her films in this same manner.
Prior to ‘Hi’, she also attended an event for the film ‘Toxic’ in Bengaluru, where she appeared in an orange saree. At that time, she mentioned that she doesn’t usually attend promotional events simply because she doesn’t know what to say, but she made an exception because the lead actor, Yash, invited her. Despite claiming she didn’t know how to speak, she delivered a very clear and articulate speech on stage, earning much applause.
Fans Disappointed: Having promoted her previous two films, there was an expectation that she would also promote ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’—especially since the film centers on her character, which heightened the anticipation. Consequently, fans are disappointed by her absence.
Nayanthara’s Post: A few hours before the ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ event began, Nayanthara shared a statement on Instagram. In it, she thanked the director and the producer, spoke highly of her co-stars Regina Cassandra, Khushbu Sundar, and Sneha, and expressed how moved she felt to have been a part of ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’. Now, people on social media are questioning whether this statement was merely a way to explain her absence from the event.
