The event was in association with Madr as Book Club.

Leslie Carvalho was born and raised in B angalore and went to school and college there. He spent a year in Germany on a  cultural exchange programme and then studied filmmaking at the New York Fil m Academy.

His student film, Cherish & I won several awards. 

He wrote, produced and directed his de but feature, ‘The Outhouse’ which was a warded the ‘Aravindan Puruskaram’ and ‘The Gollapudi Srinivas National Award’ for best debutant director.

He then wrote produced and directed a short film, ‘A Woman Too Many’

He consults as a script doctor.

He’s worked on several books on Bangal ore, ‘ Bangalore Blue ‘ ‘ Past & Curious ‘a nd ‘ Sports Legends of Bangalore ‘

Smoke on the backwaters’ is his debut novel.

Leslie has been to several National and I nternational Juries several times. The N ational Film Awards, Indian Panorama, S tate Film Awards, and Student Film Juri es.

He is a guest lecturer at a few colleges f or Film and Communication students. H e’s been on the Academic Counsel of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institut e of India and has been on the Film Fina nce Committee of the Entertainment So ciety of Goa.

An avid sports and games enthusiast, Le slie participates in the seniors athletics and tennis championships.

He is working on a Tamil film, ‘Raddiw allah’ and a book of short stories.
