Epson Inaugurates India’s First Ink Tank Printer Manufacturing Facility
Chennai, July 4th, 2025 — In a significan t development for Epson globally and in India, Seiko Epson Corporation today in augurated its first ink tank printer manu facturing facility in India, located in Che nnai. The new plant has been establishe d in collaboration with RIKUN, Epson’s manufacturing partner, and marks a sign ificant step in Epson’s commitment to lo cal production and sustainable innovati on.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. Junkichi Yoshida, Global Presiden nt of Seiko Epson Corporation, who expr essed his deep appreciation to the team s at Epson India, RIKUN, and Seiko Epso n Corporation for turning this vision int o reality. “This is a historic occasion for E pson,” said Mr. Yoshida. “India is crucial t o our growth and offers immense oppor tunity for innovation and leadership, wit h its fast-growing economy, youthful po pulation, and digital progress.”
The Chennai facility is Epson’s first man ufacturing investment in India and is sch eduled to commence operations in Octo ber 2025. It will initially focus on the pr oduction of Epson’s flagship EcoTank pri nters, which have redefined the printing landscape by offering a high-capacity, ca rtridge-free printing solution that is cos t-effective and which reduces the impac t on the environment. To date, over 8 mil lion EcoTank printers have been sold in I ndia, contributing to a global total of ov er 100 million EcoTank printers sold sinc e launch. Epson is the No. 1 Inkjet Print er brand in India by market share.
Mr. Samba Moorthy, President of Epson India, reflected on the importance of the new Epson EcoTank printer manufacturi uring facility for the Indian market, sayi ng: “This new facility is a milestone in Ep son India’s journey and a clear demonstr ation of our long-term commitment to g rowth and innovation. Mr. Yoshida emphasized that this move aligns with the Government of India’s ‘M ake in India’ initiative and reflects Epson n’s broader objective to localize product tion, enhance supply chain agility, and c ontribute meaningfully to India’s econo mic development.
