Story-:

The story of *LiK* is set in the year 2040. Every couple in love is connected through an application called “LiK,” invented by S.J. Suryah. If a boyfriend or girlfriend is unfaithful to their partner, the app immediately detects and reveals it. Consequently, couples frequently break up and go their separate ways.

While everyone else remains immersed in their mobile phones, a man runs a sanctuary called “Green World”—a place where the use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited. This establishment serves as a form of punishment for those who have committed transgressions via social media. Pradeep, who makes his entry as the son of Seeman, falls in love for the very first time the moment he lays eyes on Krithi Shetty. However, to speak with Krithi Shetty—and to pursue a romantic relationship with her—Pradeep requires a “LiK” phone. Without his father’s knowledge, Pradeep acquires a phone and sends a connection request to Krithi through the LiK app. Upon Krithi accepting the request, the two begin conversing and getting to know one another. Eventually, this connection blossoms into love.

At this juncture, S.J. Suryah introduces a new feature to his LiK app called the “Love Meter.” This update allows couples to determine the exact percentage of love existing between them. When many couples check their compatibility using this feature, they find their love percentage registering below 40%; as a result, a multitude of couples end their relationships and part ways.

Amidst this scenario, Krithi Shetty and Pradeep decide to check their own love percentage. To their dismay, the app displays a mere 3%. Consequently, Krithi breaks up with Pradeep. Refusing to accept this outcome, Pradeep vows to prove that the app is a sham, declaring: “How can an app assign a percentage to my love? It’s all a lie; I will prove that the LiK app is a total fraud!” Whether or not he succeeds in this endeavor forms the remainder of the film’s story.

Movie Review-:

Protagonist Pradeep Ranganathan carries the entire film on his shoulders. However, his performance fails to establish a genuine connection with the audience. It must be said that S.J. Suryah, appearing as the villain, proves to be somewhat of a disappointment in this film. Regardless of the nature of the role assigned to him, he typically dominates the screen with his acting prowess, always standing out distinctly from the rest of the cast. His performances usually contribute significantly to a film’s success; however, his role in this movie simply does not rise to that standard. Joining them, the performances of Krithi Shetty, Seeman, Gouri Kishan, Sha Ra, and Yogi Babu were commendable.

Yet, whether their respective characters truly resonated with the audience remains a debatable question. Director Vignesh Shivan chose a premise that felt fresh and original—a choice that deserves initial applause. Vignesh Shivan typically uses his films as a platform to convey positive messages.

True to form, in this movie, he addresses the current generation—one immersed in their phones, believing that “Reels” constitute their entire world—and highlights the beauty of the real world that awaits them if they would only step away from their screens. This thematic core stands as the film’s greatest asset. However, Vignesh Shivan falters in several other aspects: the screenplay lacks engaging moments, the characters lack depth, and the film fails to forge an emotional bond with the viewer.

In particular, Vignesh Shivan’s writing is usually exceptional at creating characters that resonate deeply and emotionally with the audience; his failure to achieve this in the current film is a significant letdown. Similarly, the comedic sequences did not land effectively either. While Pradeep serves as the film’s nominal hero, it is Anirudh who must be hailed as the *real* hero of this movie. From the opening credits to the very end, he touches our hearts through his songs and background score. In particular, tracks such as “Enakkena Yaarum Illaiye,” “Theema Theema,” and “Adavadi” are truly in a league of their own.

The technical aspects of the film were also executed quite well. In particular, the way Chennai is depicted in the year 2040 is visually captivating. The intricate detailing incorporated into it was also delightful.

Anirudh Visuals Performances Plot Lackluster Screenplay Lack of Emotional Connection Overall, although *Love Insurance Kompany* fails to live up to expectations, Anirudh’s background score and songs offer some solace.
