Producer Sreenidhi Sagar of Rise East Entertainment and director Ra. Karthik, the duo known for the breezy feel-good film Nitham Oru Vaanam, have collaborated once again for Made in Korea. The film, featuring Priyanka Arul Mohan in the lead role, will premiere on Netflix on March 12. Marking the release, actress Priyanka Mohan, producer Sreenidhi Sagar and director Ra. Karthik interacted with the press and media, sharing their experiences of creating the film for Netflix.

Here are some excerpts from the interaction.

Director Ra. Karthik said: “I take this opportunity to thank the press and media for spreading positive reviews about my debut directorial Nitham Oru Vaanam.” Speaking about the colour palette used in the film, he said, “I strongly believe that every city has its own colour – be it Chennai or any other city. Our crew stayed there for a couple of months, and every place we travelled to gave me different shades and moods. That is what we see reflected in the visuals of the trailer. When asked about what impressed him the most about Korea, he said, “The perfect planning of the crew there was truly inspiring. During our stay, we met strangers every day, and that’s when our true selves are revealed. It becomes a process of self-realisation, and that is something I personally experienced while filming this movie in Korea.”

Actress Priyanka Mohan said:“The story revolves around a girl from a small village in Tamil Nadu who hasn’t seen the world beyond her horizon. While playing the character Shenba, I felt like I was experiencing Korea through her journey. This was possible because of Karthik sir’s guidance and the way the entire crew made me feel comfortable. One word that I learnt and brought back home is ‘Kamsahamnida’, which means ‘Thank you’. Every day after the shoot, everyone in the crew would bow and say those words.”

Producer Sreenidhi Sagar, Rise East Entertainment said: “Made in Korea is among the first Tamil films to be extensively shot in Korea. The script itself impressed me, and I had previously worked with Ra. Karthik on Nitham Oru Vaanam. The protagonist’s character, played by Priyanka Mohan, was very promising.
“We faced many challenges while shooting the film. While reading the script everything seemed easy, but once we began filming, we realised the scale of the effort involved. However, the experience was wonderful. As a producer, I feel extremely proud after watching the final version.” He further added, “Priyanka Mohan has a strong fan base beyond the Tamil industry as she is also well known in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada cinema. Her presence is definitely a big strength for the film.”
