Story -:

Jeeva, the village headman, is an influential figure who intervenes and resolves any problem. Because of his involvement in all matters, good or bad, he is present when arrangements are being made for the marriage of Ilavarasan’s daughter, Sowmya. Since conducting the wedding successfully during the election season would garner votes for his party, and because he considers Sowmya like a sister, Jeeva goes to Ilavarasan’s house as an important guest.

Meanwhile, Thambi Ramaiah, their neighbor, harbors animosity towards Ilavarasan, and is also grieving the death of his own daughter. While the wedding house is bustling with festivities, Thambi Ramaiah’s father passes away in the house next door. When Jeeva learns of this, he tries to ensure that the wedding is not disrupted and attempts to smoothly manage the funeral rites. However, due to his anger towards Ilavarasan, Thambi Ramaiah insists on taking his father’s body away only at the auspicious wedding time. The rest of the story revolves around how Jeeva, acting as a neutral party, manages to handle both events.

Movie Review-:

Nithish Sahadev, who directed the Malayalam film ‘Pailim’, has helmed this film. He has taken a serious storyline and incorporated as much comedy as possible.

He has also subtly included some political commentary. Jeeva, playing the role of a village head from the MPK party, fits the character perfectly. Jeeva, who can effortlessly score in comedy films, has delivered a good performance in this film, going beyond comedy and excelling in emotional scenes as well.

When he is caught between Ilavarasu and Thambi Ramaiah, and then troubled by Jensen Divakar from the opposition party, Jeeva struggles. Those scenes are hilarious. Prarthana scores in a scene where she breaks down and speaks. The things her prospective groom does reflect the pain of unmarried 90s kids.

Jensen Divakar impresses as a silent villain and is fantastic in the scene where he meets and talks to the groom in person. The way the director has seamlessly integrated caste and animosity into the story is excellent. Based on the trailer, it seemed like a purely comedy film. However, director Nithish has delivered a commercial film that also addresses other issues.

Sanjo Joseph, Nithish Sahadev, and Anuraj have written the script in such a way that every character in the film is important. Bablu Aju’s cinematography, Arjun Babu’s editing, and Vishnu Vijay’s background music are the main pillars of the film. The dialogues are written appropriately for each scene, which is a highlight. In particular, the scene with the dialogue, “I told you to follow the conditions,” is impactful.

This can be considered a commercial hit film for Jeeva after a long time. Jeeva, Ilavarasan, Thambi Ramaiah combination, screenplay, Editing, Background Mu sic excellent. They could have written more comedy. Overall, we can celebrate this Pongal under the leadership of Thambi. A must-watch film with family.
