Story -:
Arjun, a Karate Master, has trained his daughter Preethi in the martial art since childhood, raising her with the conviction that a woman should always be courageous and never have to rely on anyone else for protection.
He instilled in her the principle that she must stand up for victims of injustice—not only for her own kin but for anyone, anywhere, who faces wrongdoing. Consequently, she refuses to turn a blind eye to the injustices unfolding before her; instead, she confronts them head-on. She ruthlessly thrashes anyone who dares to attack her in opposition. Abirami, her mother, worries constantly—day in and day out—fearing that because Preethi has grown up strictly adhering to her father’s teachings, she might eventually land herself in grave trouble.
While their lives unfold on one front, a villain on the other is plotting to raze an entire village to the ground in order to extract highly valuable minerals. He approaches a government Minister to seek permission for this project; the Minister, noting that the total value of the scheme is 7,000 crores, demands a kickback of 1,000 crores for himself. The requisite funds are arranged, and the responsibility of delivering the money is entrusted to a key associate.
However, that associate fails to successfully deliver the money to the Minister. In the midst of this unfolding crisis, Arjun’s family inadvertently gets entangled in the conflict. What happened next? How did Arjun’s family get caught up in this mess? Did they manage to escape the predicament, or did they not? *Blast* is a film that answers these questions through a thrilling, action-packed narrative.

Movie Review -:
True to the film’s title, the action sequences—from the very beginning right through to the end—are an absolute blast. Each fight scene has been executed with precision and, at the same time, with high-octane energy. Kudos first and foremost to Stunt Master Phoenix Prabhu for this achievement. Not once throughout the film do the action sequences feel tedious or induce any cringing; they are consistently engaging.
Debut director Subash K. Raj chose a “family action drama” as his canvas for his very first film, and he has delivered it to us with excellence. Although the screenplay in the first half of the film experiences occasional lulls, the second half is on a whole different level. The dialogues, camera movements, character design, and subtle surprise moments were all well-executed.
As for “Action King” Arjun—he needs no introduction; his reputation precedes him. With a career spanning 46 years, he remains the undisputed number one in the realm of action cinema. While we have often marveled at Arjun in films featuring just two or three action sequences, in *this* movie, he has poured his heart and soul into numerous fight scenes, absolutely acing his role as a Karate Master.
Matching Arjun’s intensity in the action sequences, Preethi Mukundan delivers a stunning performance. Preethi—an actress who previously captured the hearts of fans through the song “Aasa Kooda”—may not have received significant critical acclaim for her acting skills until now. However, following *Blast*—in which she plays the daughter of the “Action King”—she could very well be dubbed the “Action Princess.” Such is the caliber of her performance in this film. Furthermore, actress Abhirami delivers such a fierce performance in the action sequences that one might be left wondering, “Is this really the same ‘Annalakshmi’ from *Virumaandi*?” Kudos to Abhirami, who has shed weight and absolutely rocked the physically demanding fight sequences.
Apart from these key players, another individual who commands attention in this film is actor Arjun Chidambaram. For actor Arjun Chidambaram—who rose to fame through films such as *Ponniyin Selvan* and *Nerkonda Paarvai*—the movie *Blast* will undoubtedly serve as a significant milestone in his cinematic career. Furthermore, all the other actors and actresses delivered excellent performances in the roles assigned to them.
Beyond its action sequences, the film’s director has addressed the theme of women’s empowerment—a narrative choice that stands as one of the movie’s greatest strengths. The manner in which the film depicts Preethi Mukundan confronting and overcoming the harassment she faces in her workplace serves as a powerful rebuke to those who harbor intentions of mistreating women. Equally noteworthy is the film’s message that we must not limit our intervention to instances of injustice against people we know; rather, we are obligated to speak out against injustice even when it is inflicted upon a complete stranger.
Ravi Basrur’s background score acts as a major asset to the film; however, in a few specific instances, one felt that the background music could have been even more impactful. Additionally, the cinematography and editing have elevated the film’s overall production quality to an exceptional level. Apart from these specific elements, the technical craftsmanship across the board has contributed significantly to the film’s success.
The action sequences, and the stunt choreography designed by Stunt Master Phoenix Prabhu.
While it remains a question mark whether the film will resonate with audiences beyond die-hard action enthusiasts, there are no major flaws to be found elsewhere in the movie.
Overall, crafted as a family action drama, *Blast* truly lives up to its title with explosive action sequences—it is definitely a film that can be enjoyed with the entire family.
