Story -:
Although there have been many films in Tamil cinema combining comedy with a crime background, “Con City” stands out for its unique approach. Directed by debutant director Harish Durairaj, the film tries to tell an interesting story of family relationships, money lust, cheating schemes and unexpected events through a humorous screenplay.Set in the pre-demonetisation period, the moving story revolves around an ordinary family.

Movie Review-:
The film vividly records how the plan of some people who want to make easy money takes many unexpected turns and confusion. Actor Arjun Das has gone beyond his usual serious roles and this time he fits naturally in a role with a humorous twist. His body language, dialogue delivery and elegance in his comedic scenes have impressed the fans. The emotions he expresses especially in the scenes with the family add extra strength to the story.
Aruldas lends credibility to the character with his seasoned performance. Even in a quiet performance he powerfully conveys the key moments of the story.
Anna Ben, who plays the female lead, has firmly secured her place in the story with her natural performance. His performance in scenes mixed with humor and emotion is commendable.
She has given the necessary liveliness to the female character at the center of the family story. One of the major strengths of this film is the performance of veteran actress Vadukukarasi. His character, who takes the helm of the family, creates laughs at many points and emotion at some moments.
The family scenes around him enliven the film. Especially the events that take place in his home account for the main humor and twists of the film.
Yogi Babu, who comes to mind when it comes to comedy, guarantees laughs in his usual style in this film as well. His dialogues and instant reactions enliven the stage in many scenes.
Debut director Harish Durairaj has chosen a different plot in the first film and combined it with commercial elements. Without complicating the story, he has moved it in a simple way so that fans of all walks of life can enjoy it. The way he balances family sentiments, humor and criminal background shows his talent.
Music composer John Roldan has provided the music that suits the mood of the film. The songs travel without affecting the flow of the story. The background music enhances the fun of many scenes and makes the comedy and thrilling moments more enjoyable.
The cinematography, editing and technical aspects are also well placed to the extent required by the story. The seamless handling of moving scenes, especially focusing on a narrow space, shows the skill of the technical team.
All in all, “Gone City” is a thoroughly entertaining movie to go to the theater with the family to laugh and enjoy.
With the debut director, Arjun Das, Arul Das, Anna Ben, Vadyukkarasi, Yogi Babu, who gave excellent performances, and Shaun Roldan, who added strength to the music, “Con City” turns out to be a different kind of family comedy treat for the fans. The fast-paced comedy that the screenplay showed in the first half would have been a better film if it had followed the same in the second half.
