Story -:
Kavin, the male lead, desires a love marriage—much like his parents—but when romance fails to materialize, his parents begin looking for a suitable bride for him. Determined to marry only for love, Kavin leaves a threatening letter for his family and runs away from home.
Nayanthara, the female lead, grows up without a mother’s presence or a father’s affection and support; she aspires to achieve success in life rather than getting tied down by marriage. However, when a marriage is suddenly arranged for her against her wishes, she too runs away from home.
Kavin and Nayanthara cross paths in Chennai after leaving their respective homes and strike up a friendship. Kavin begins to fall for Nayanthara, believing she is the girl he has been waiting for. However, upon learning that she has no faith in love or marriage, he decides to keep his feelings to himself.
Amidst this, circumstances arise that force Kavin and Nayanthara to pose as a married couple for a few months. Kavin decides to use this situation to win Nayanthara’s heart; the film ‘Hi’ narrates whether he succeeds in this endeavor, offering a delightful and heartwarming romantic experience.

Movie Review -:
Kavin, playing a young man from Coimbatore who speaks the Kongu dialect, brilliantly conveys his longing for and disappointment in love through his performance. He effectively bridges the age gap with Nayanthara through his mature acting; he handles many scenes with natural ease and also elicits laughter with his comedic timing.
Although portraying a woman from the Kongu region, Nayanthara retains her signature acting style and dialogue delivery while looking strikingly radiant. While her screen presence and mature acting—along with a modern wardrobe that masks any rural identity—add strength to the film, the visible age difference occasionally feels slightly out of sync with certain scenes.
The seasoned performances of the supporting cast—Radhika (as Kavin’s mother), K. Bhagyaraj (as his father), Prabhu (as Nayanthara’s father), and Suhasini Maniratnam (in a special appearance)—bolster the screenplay.
The scenes featuring Sathyan, Aditya Kathir, and Qureshi are uproariously funny. In particular, even Sathyan’s simple “mind-voice” commentary draws thunderous laughter that shakes the entire theater.
Although the screen presence of VTV Ganesh, FEFSI Vijayan, Kavya Arivumani, Mirchi Hema, and Amrutha Srinivasan is brief, it adds strength to the narrative flow.
Cinematographer Rajesh Shukla has presented the film visually in a vibrant manner and has captured Nayanthara beautifully.
With music by Jen Martin, the songs are celebratory in nature, while the background score effectively conveys romantic emotions.
Editor Philomin Raj has assembled the scenes of this lighthearted story in a way that evokes pleasant feelings and touches the audience’s hearts.
Writer-director Vishnu Edavan has crafted a simple love story with an uncomplicated screenplay, delivering a film that offers a calm and soothing experience.
Even though the film proceeds from start to finish without major twists or suspense, director Vishnu Edavan succeeds brilliantly in entertaining the audience through the design of characters and scenes.
While Nayanthara looks dazzlingly radiant, the visible signs of her age—and the lack of chemistry in her scenes with Kavin—are drawbacks; however, Kavin’s mature, restrained, and natural performance makes one overlook these flaws, ensuring the film remains engaging. Overall, ‘Hi’ is a film that everyone will enjoy.
