Story -:
Set against the backdrop of 1970s Tamil Nadu, Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku is a gripping prison drama that unfolds across two parallel timelines.
On the eve of a condemned prisoner’s execution, a judge, a jailer, and an aging hangman are each forced to confront their own understanding of justice, guilt, and humanity. At the center of the story is Arivumathi, a young man convicted of murdering Lakshmikanthan.
As the night progresses, the narrative travels back to reveal how an intelligent, compassionate youth from an impoverished family is gradually pushed by circumstance, desperation, and the choices he makes into becoming a convicted murderer.
Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku is a deeply emotional exploration of poverty, crime, punishment, redemption, and the moral burden carried not only by the accused but also by those entrusted with delivering justice. This has nothing to do with the Laxmikanthan murder case involving Kalaivanar NS Krishnan and Thyagaraja Bhagavadhar.
Dayal Padmanabhan has used this name to create an attraction for the story of whether the death penalty is fair or not, knowing that there is no one here who can take it all.
When a murderer (Aruvi Madan) is to be hanged, the judge (Kanya Bharti) is up to something! Scenes unfold as he begins to read an autobiographical book by a death row inmate named Vidhu (Victory) while writing the verdict.
Born to an undeveloped father and a struggling mother (Lizzy Antony), the son of Knowledge, who has completed his studies and is waiting for a government job. Poverty in the family.
The deed of the agricultural land is in the house of Kanthuvati Redtiyar (Kavita Bharti). When he cannot even pay interest, the insults caused by him are not insignificant.
From time to time the person who helps the knowledge (Maran) is a thief who comes to know only after my knowledge. Without any other option, he starts stealing knowledge. Some money is coming.

Director Dayal Padmanabhan takes a serious subject which has been developing debates for ages and makes a thought about it and debates in the mind of the movie watchers.
The way the noose is prepared, the mood of the prisoner in the jail. The screenplay strategy is good, showing the argument between the police officer and him, the mother’s cry… and then the situation where the thief becomes the murderer.
The simple cinematography of the director is commendable.
Panneer Selvam’s cinematography enhances the sense of ambience of the scene. The last shot of the jail cell is a poem of cinematography, direction and art direction. Especially Panneer Selvam’s frame size is enormous.
Composer Darbhuka Siva shines in the place where Bharathidasan’s Muttam Onnu Thada has been set to a soft and soothing tune. What a wonderful line. Music composers .. if you know how to add music to a song, many such dramas will come to the screen.
Vetri has acted naturally in her style except for the groom look in F Five Hotel.

Rangaraj Pandey has spoken well.
The film’s acting and dialogue are beyond the mood of the hanged prisoner, which reduces the impact the film should give.
Is it possible to say that the death penalty is one hundred percent wrong by keeping a character who talks about his own justification for the respective situation? If the death penalty is right for the murderer, does it not become the justification of the government and the legal department in that context?

Similarly, neither the gallows nor the law decide whether the death penalty is right or wrong. The intent of the crime is decisive.At the same time, if the thali is cut incorrectly, it can be tied again. If one’s life is cut off in the name of capital punishment, it cannot be re-tied. If such an innocent person is killed, the law cannot correct the wrong, so there is an opinion that there should be no death penalty.
But with the change of time, man is becoming more and more animal, unjust reasons for brutal murders and taking lives for a quarter pound nose are increasing,
I cannot wholeheartedly say that there should not be death penalty in the environment where many people commit murders out of extreme selfishness even for the single reason that there should be no proof of their crimes.
A loving father spent a lot of money to save his son who had raped and killed a woman, and the son killed his own birth mother in the next month. If he had been hanged, his mother would not have died, would she?
So what to do?
When the crime of a criminal is punishable by death, once again the crime must be re-examined from the police investigation to the trial. That investigation should be for newcomers in the groups. There is nothing wrong with doing a completely new group.
Those who commit other crimes and go to jail should be instilled with fear against crimes like murder and rape.
Perhaps there is no other way until the science develops and the criminals can be found not only by testimony but also technically.
