Story -:
Director Sasi has garnered attention in Tamil cinema for his unique storylines and films that delve deeply into human emotions. Known for distinct narratives in movies like *Poo*, *Pichaikkaran*, and *Sivappu Manjal Pachai*, he returns after a long hiatus with *Nooru Kodi Vaanavil*—a story that blends romance, humor, and familial emotions.
Harish Kalyan, who works for a private television network in Mumbai, travels to Goa in pursuit of a promotion. He begins his assignment there, hopeful that successfully producing a television show will pave the way for his career advancement. In this setting, he meets Benny—a character played by Siddhi Idnani, who places great value on human emotions.
Richie, Siddhi Idnani’s boyfriend, has been in a coma for about 170 days following an accident. Throughout this period, Siddhi has been recording her daily life on video, hoping to share these moments with him once he recovers.
A minor conflict between Harish Kalyan and Siddhi Idnani eventually blossoms into a friendship. Harish decides to center his television show around Siddhi’s experiences and her enduring love, leading to a closer bond between them—a connection that gradually evolves into romance.
Although Harish confesses his love, Siddhi finds herself unable to accept it immediately. While she feels drawn to Harish—who understands her so well—she remains torn, unable to let go of the love she holds for Richie, to whom she has remained devoted all this time. In the midst of this, Richie recovers from his coma and returns. The rest of the story follows the paths that the lives of the individuals in this love triangle take.

Movie Review -:
Harish Kalyan has delivered a natural performance, showing a deep understanding of his character. He strengthens the narrative through his acting across various moments—be it in romance, comedy, or emotional turmoil—perfectly embodying the vision director Sasi had for the role.
The female lead, Siddhi Idnani, captivates the audience with her charming appearance and natural acting. She, in particular, excels in portraying the inner conflict of a woman torn between love and duty, effectively conveying her state of mind through her expressions and performance.
Supporting cast members—including Kovai Sarala, Thambi Ramaiah, Chinni Jayanth, and Sampath Raj—have all done justice to their respective roles. VJ Parvathy’s performance, in particular, stands out.
Cinematography that is a visual treat; music that touches the soul!
One of the film’s greatest strengths is its cinematography. The natural beauty and atmosphere of Goa are captured in vibrant detail in every frame; each scene feels like a beautiful painting.
The contribution of music director Sidhu Kumar is another major asset. He showcases his talent not only in the songs but also in the background score. The music enhances the emotions in the romantic sequences and effectively supports the flow of the story.
Lacking in narrative novelty; the screenplay could have used more attention!
Director Sasi attempts to explore the various dimensions of love and the complexities of the human mind through a love triangle. However, the core premise and several key sequences feel all too familiar, reminiscent of themes seen in many previous films.
While the film places significant emphasis on the emotions of the characters, more attention could have been paid to making the screenplay itself more engaging. In some places, the progression of scenes is all too predictable, which slows down the film’s pace. A notable drawback is that the unique storytelling style—one typically expected from Sasi’s previous works—is not fully evident here.
Despite having a cast well-suited for a beautiful love story, along with pleasing cinematography and a delightful musical score, the film could have reached greater heights had the screenplay incorporated more innovation and a brisker pace.
Overall:
‘Nooru Kodi Vaanavil’ is a lovely attempt that explores romantic emotions and the expectations within relationships. The performances of Harish Kalyan and Siddhi Idnani, the music by Sidhu Kumar, and the refined cinematography make the film an enjoyable watch. However, it is disappointing that the screenplay lacks the strength to distinguish the film from a conventional love triangle.
‘Nooru Kodi Vaanavil’ – Colorful visuals… pleasant music… but lacking in narrative innovation!
